Privacy Policy

1. What the app does

Curblee shows drivers in Washington, DC whether they can park at a given curb, for how long, and what the posted rules say. It also lets drivers share anonymous reports of parking enforcement so others nearby can move their cars in time. The rules come from public DC government data, checked against the street; posted signs always govern.

2. What we collect in the app

Location. Curblee uses your precise location while the app is open to show the curb you’re near and its rules. If you start a parking session, we store the location of the curb you parked at so we can remind you before the rules change. If you turn on enforcement alerts, we ask for “Always” location so the app can tell when you’re near your parked car; we only use it to decide whether to send you an alert. You can decline or change this in iOS Settings at any time; the map and curb rules still work without it.

Parking sessions. Which curb, when you started, and when you left. Sessions are kept in your account so you can look at your parking history and, if you get a ticket, build a parking record. You can delete individual sessions or your whole account.

Enforcement reports. If you report a parking officer or tow truck, we store the report, the block it’s on, the time, and your approximate location at the time of reporting (to check the report is plausible). Other drivers see the report as an anonymous marker on the map and, if they’re parked nearby, may receive an alert. Nobody sees who reported it. Reports expire on their own within an hour.

Sign photos. You can photograph a parking sign to help us correct the map. Photos carry the GPS position, compass heading, and time they were taken. We keep a photo while the correction it supports is in the map and for one year afterward, then delete it. Photos may be used to correct Curblee’s data and may be shared with the District of Columbia to help fix its sign records. Anything shown to other users or shared outside Curblee has license plates and faces blurred; the unblurred original is kept only as our audit copy. Each photo submission asks for your consent at the moment you take it.

Account. If you sign in, we get your email address and a sign-in identifier from Apple or Google. Sign-in is optional; the map, curb rules, and search work without an account. Until you sign in, the app uses an anonymous identifier so your settings persist on your device.

Settings you give us. Your residential permit zone (a number 1–8), whether you make deliveries, saved curbs, and notification preferences.

Device and diagnostics. Your device token for push notifications, app version, and crash and error reports. Crash reports do not include your location history.

3. What we do not collect

We do not collect your license plate, your permit number, your contacts, or your movements when the app is closed (unless you turned on “Always” location for alerts, and then only near your parked car). We do not sell your data. We do not show ads in the app and do not share your data with advertisers.

4. Who we share it with

• Supabase (database, sign-in, storage) — hosts your account and app data.
• Apple (push notifications, Sign in with Apple) and Google (Sign in with Google) — only if you use those features.
• DC Master Address Repository (a DC government service) — receives coordinates so we can show the street name and block; it does not receive your identity.
• Sentry — crash and error reports.
• The District of Columbia — may receive sign photos you submit, as described above, to correct public sign records.

Each provider receives only what it needs for its function and is bound by its own privacy terms.

5. Data sources

Curb rules are derived from public data published by the DC Department of Transportation and the DC Office of the Chief Technology Officer under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license, combined with Curblee’s own field verification and user-submitted corrections. This data can be wrong or out of date; posted signs always govern.

6. Retention and deletion

Your account and its sessions, saved curbs, and settings are kept until you delete your account. Enforcement reports are deleted after they expire (at most one hour), except an anonymous count kept for statistics. Sign photos follow the rule in section 2. Crash reports are kept for 90 days.

You can delete your account from within the app (Profile → Account → Delete account) or at curblee.com/delete-account. Deletion removes your account, sessions, saved curbs, settings, and device tokens within 30 days. Corrections already made to the public map from your photos remain, without any link to you.

7. Children

Curblee is for licensed drivers and is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Your rights

You can see, export, or delete what we hold about you by emailing support@curblee.com; we respond within 30 days. Residents of California, Virginia, and other states with privacy laws have the rights those laws provide, including the right to know, delete, and correct; we honor those requests for everyone regardless of where they live.

9. What we collect

When you join the waitlist we collect your email address, and we log your IP address and browser user-agent temporarily to prevent spam. If you arrive via a referral link we record the referral code. Our hosting network resolves your IP to an approximate country, region, and city, which we store with your waitlist entry so we know where to launch next; we don’t store the raw IP with your record and don’t use GPS on the website.

10. How we use it

To send you a confirmation and launch updates, to tell you when Curblee launches in your area, to prevent fake signups, and to measure aggregate signup performance. We don’t sell your email.

11. Analytics and advertising pixels on the website

The website uses Google Analytics 4 for traffic measurement, and TikTok and Reddit advertising pixels that let us measure whether ads we ran on those platforms led to signups. These set cookies. If you sign up, a hashed (irreversible) version of your email may be sent to TikTok and Reddit for advertising measurement only; your plain email is not sent. You can block these with a browser extension or your browser’s tracking settings; the site works without them. The app does not use any of these.

12. Website providers

A database provider for waitlist entries, an email provider (Resend) for confirmations, Cloudflare Turnstile to block bots, and the analytics and advertising services above.

13. Unsubscribe and deletion

Unsubscribe via the link in any email or at curblee.com/unsubscribe. To delete your waitlist data, email hello@curblee.com.

14. Changes

We’ll post changes here with a new “Last updated” date. For material changes affecting the app we’ll also notify you in the app.
